IN THE AGE OF AI
Before watching the film In the Age of AI, I had no previous knowledge of the strategy-based board game Go. The ancient Chinese board game Go is a complex strategy-based game that teaches individuals the art of discipline, concentration, and balance. With the complexity of the game, it was extremely fascinating and somewhat frightening that a computer has the ability to take a game as abstract as Go and apply thousands of moves that the human brain has yet to think of before. Although many see this type of evolution in technology as incredible, I begin to wonder if technology like this will one day be a major threat to the human race. Big and small businesses all over the globe have taken and applied these new tools to enhance their everyday life, but are they soon going to completely replace the work human employees do, and will robots be able to do the work better? This is definitely a concern that continues to grow in my mind as I soonly begin the process of searching for employment.
Another eye-opening element talked about in the film is how much the company Google knows about members of society's personal information. Not only are we searching into Google to gather data, but rather Google is searching to find out facts about us as well. With all the statistics Google holds on people, they are able to make assumptions on who people are and what their next move is going to be. Therefore, without us knowing, Google knows everything.
